Some Days by Sam Ghosh - Transcript

PAGE 1

Three in-set panels over a full-bleed background panel.

In-set Panel 1: An open window with a translucent white curtain fluttering in the breeze. Next to the window, a bouquet of mauve carnations and moonflowers bloom. Loose carnation petals float down across the page.

Text: “Some days, I wake up holding you.”

In-set Panel 2: Close up on the feet of two people on a bed- the one on the left flat filled with mauve and purple, and the right colored naturally.

Text: “The scent of your sunshine against my face,”

In-set Panel 3: Close up on a half closed eye in profile, framed by loose wavy dark hair. This is the woman on the right.

Text: “The lazy song”

Page background: A woman- colored naturally - hugs a man flat filled with mauve and purple on a bed. The man’s face is obscured.

Text: “of your skin against mine.”

PAGE 2

Two in-set panels over a full-bleed background panel.

In-set Panel 1: The woman props herself up on her elbow to smile down at the sleeping man.

Text: “Just for a moment, we are safe,”

In-set Panel 2: A closer crop of the previous panel. The woman now leans in to kiss the man’s head.

Text: “Like I was born for your arms to hold,”

Page background: A close-up of the bouquet of mauve carnations and moonflowers from Page 1.

Text: “And you’re here to be held by me.”

PAGE 3

A horizontal panel at the top of the page, with three cascading vertical panels taking up the lower half of the page. The color scheme has changed from pinks and purples to yellows, browns and oranges.

Panel 1: The woman in a pose similar to the previous page, waking up alone in bed, her expression unreadable.

Text: “Other days, you’ve never been here.”

Panel 2: She sits up.

Text: “The icy blue sky meets my gaze-”

Panel 3: She stretches, an optimistic smile on her face.

Text: “Cloudless.”

Panel 4: She throws aside the blanket, moving out of frame.

Text: “The wind murmurs and makes way.”

PAGE 4

Two borderless illustrations of the woman, one full body to one the left, and one profile midshot on the right.

Figure 1: She’s in the middle of putting on a long sleeved shirt.

Text: “Just for a moment, I am whole.”

Figure 2: She slings a bag over her shoulder with a pleasant expression.

Text: “Like all the world is all I need,”

PAGE 5

Splash page of her walking among a crowd of people, head held high, looking content.

Text: “And there’s just enough room for one.”

PAGE 6

Two overlapping panels over a full-bleed background panel. The colors have changed from warm yellows to cool blues and indigo.

Panel 1: Raindrops on a window pane.

Text: “Some days, I’m made of hands aching to be held,”

Panel 2: A close-up of the flowerpot, now only holding a bunch of moonflowers that haven’t bloomed.

Text: “Heart stowing away love for the winter.”

Page background: The woman, with her back turned to us, leans against the windowsill. Behind her, in the foreground, a plate of cranberries sits on a pillow, some fruit spilled out.

PAGE 7

One panel at the top of the page and a full-bleed borderless panel in the lower half.

Panel 1: A front view of the woman in the same pose as the last page. She pensively looks at the flowers, which are a silhouette in the foreground, reaching for them with a finger. Closer in the foreground, rain pours.

Text: “Eyes tinged mauve with carnation”

Panel 2: Close-up, her finger makes contact with a single moonflower.

Text: “And lonely, lonely moonflower.”

PAGE 8

A full-bleed splash page with an in-set panel at the bottom right. The colors have reverted to the pinks, mauve and purple from the beginning.

Page background: An explosion of flower petals with the woman’s figure floating in the center head thrown back. Mauve carnations erupt from her, obscuring her torso. Petals fly out in all directions.

Text: “Fragrant, like a dream”

In-set Panel: Extreme close-up of her eye, sparkling and enraptured, a slight blush on what’s visible of her cheek.

Text: “You appear.”

PAGE 9

A full-bleed page of dense, drifting petals. The petals form organic boundaries of four panels.

Panel 1: The woman holds the purple man from page 1 and they look at each other. She looks stunned while he smiles down gently, eyes still obscured.

Panel 2: They hold each other. The woman closes her eyes and smiles contentedly. Only the man’s back is visible. The feeling is that they’re twirling in this flowery void.

Text: “We leave our clothes on as our breaths flutter-”

Panel 3: A close-up of the two characters in profile, about to kiss.

Text: “Just for a moment,”

Panel 4: Extreme close-up of the woman’s eyes, blissfully closed, the blush still lingering.

Text: “You’re almost real.”

PAGE 10

Most of the page is white space, with a horizontal panel along the bottom.

The top two-thirds of the page have a handful of pink and mauve petals drifting down, echoes of the previous page.

Text: “Slowly, the petals settle.”

Panel 1: The color scheme has shifted again, to a muted, gloomy blue. The woman looks out the window from Page 1, her head turned away from us. Instead of flowers, a cactus sits in the flowerpot.

Text: “Everyday I wake up alone.”
