Look Alike by Jamie Straw - Transcript

Look Alike is a four panel, digitally rendered, full color comic depicting an avid mushroom hunter looking for Chicken of the Woods.

Panel 1: Text reads, the other day, I went out looking for Chicken of the Woods.  Bright orange Chicken of the woods protrudes from the trunk of a tree with text superimposed reading, delicious, nutritious, plentiful!

Panel 2: Text reads, I thought I saw it from afar.  A close up of a white human face with a maniacally excited facial expression and an orange background.

Panel 3:  A figure wearing a black shirt, jeans, and a green belt bag runs through the forest toward a mass of orange beside a nearby tree.  The figure shouts, “We found it!”

Panel 4: Text reads, But when I got closer, it turned out to be a toxic lookalike.  Bright orange mushrooms with the face of a jack-O’-lantern grow next to the trunk of a tree with text superimposed reading, the Jack-O’-Lantern Mushroom, about the same size, also bright orange, thinks it’s hilarious.
